The "Rose Ceremony Look" is a great example of how to use this kit to accentuate your eyes, lips and cheeks in a soft, natural way. (Laura Geller)(Laura Geller)
There's no way around it — as we age, our skin ages with us. Fine lines and wrinkles are inevitable. But that's why the makeup we used as a teen or young adult might stop working for us as the years tick by. How great, then, that Laura Geller makes flattering products for mature skin that aren't too cakey or light. Back in September, the brand launched the Date Night Kit with Golden Bachelorette Joan Vassos in mind. It's designed for everyday activities, from an afternoon in the park to dinner at your favorite restaurant. Valued at $190, it's on sale for a wild $71 to celebrate the show's two-part season finale.
The kit includes a full-face palette with eyeshadow, blush, bronzer and highlighter, as well as lipstick, a retractable brush, a compact mirror and a makeup bag to store it all.
Attention, Amazon shoppers! You can also pick up the palette there (it's a No. 1 bestseller) for $69. Just note that you'll get more products — and free shipping — by buying directly from Laura Geller.
Purchased separately, these cosmetics would run you $190, and the kit usually retails for an already-great $99. But for a limited time, LG has marked it down to $79, and code H10 shaves an extra 10% off. These days, you can spend $71 on a handful of drugstore makeup, so this is a definite win. (Plus, if you don't need the makeup bag, brush, mirror and lipstick, the palette is on sale on its own for $41.)
Joan Vassos started her journey to find love on the Golden Bachelor, which aired last year. She became such a fan favorite that ABC brought her back to the Bachelor mansion in September. In anticipation of her return, Laura Geller released the Date Night Kit.
The palette includes six eyeshadows, bronzer, blush and highlighter in a range of flattering shades that work for all skin tones and types, while the lipstick is a romantic rosy pink. "This kit is specifically formulated to give the skin a healthy glow with a touch of natural color, so you don't need to worry about loud shades or glittery, over-the-top finishes," the brand says, adding that it's lightweight and meant to give you a natural, "you but better" look.
The brand has a lot of celebrity fans, including Vanna White, Bethenny Frankel, Jennie Garth and Kyle Richards. White, who's collaborated with the brand numerous times, raves about its palettes. "Getting ready is easy when you have everything all in one!" she says.
Shoppers are big fans of this all-in-one kit, even if they won't be getting their closeup on national TV anytime soon.
"I am 75 and this is the first time ever I can brush it on and go, and it never looks like I have powder on," said one fan.
"This palette is great for travel!" added another. "All you need is your favorite foundation and you are all set."
"I like that this lipstick is not overly drying and has staying power," reported a reviewer. "The color is nice. I find myself reaching for it time and time again as I get ready for a day out."
A fan of the Retractable Angled Kabuki Brush, included in the kit, gushed: "I love this brush! In fact, I ordered another one. It covers well and is kept clean inside its case."
One shopper wished that a primer or moisturizer was included. (That said, the brand's Spackle Skin Perfecting Primer is a shopper favorite that's also on sale.) "I bought the baked makeup. Like the feel but felt something was needed to help it stay on. ... So I put a thin film of my moisturizer on first and that seems to do the trick."
A final shopper said this: "Some of the powder breaks off ... but the colors are beautiful."
