You’d never guess it by looking at her, but Salma Hayek has been lighting up screens for nearly four decades. And, at 58, she's not slowing down. In fact, we just found out she graced the cover of this year's Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue and looks as radiant as ever. How does she do it? We were able to unearth some of the cover girl's beauty secrets.
You might think that Salma only goes for the fanciest treatments and products — she is a successful actress married to a billionaire, after all — but we found she loves a bargain just as much as the rest of us. Whether it's a $10 makeup-brush set or her go-to anti-aging undereye patches that are only $2 a pop, we rounded up all the Frida star's must-have beauty items — which ones will you snag for yourself?
Whether it's a vibrant red (à la Taylor Swift), deep berry or a classic nude, there's just something about a good swipe of lipstick that can take your day from zero to 100. Hayek agrees, telling the Times that she loves the "colors and textures of the Clinique Pop line."
Available in more than 30 shades, these creamy, pigmented lipsticks are long-lasting and come in satin, matte and shine finishes.
In a recent interview with Good Housekeeping, the 58-year-old told the mag that she takes a "conservative approach to aging gracefully." Her go-to for glowing skin is this nourishing body oil that's infused with sweet almond and black sesame oils, saffron, whole-cream cow’s milk and 24-karat gold bhasma (a form of gold ash used in Ayurvedic preparations) that work together to leave skin firmer, softer and smelling great.
"Forest Essentials is an Ayurvedic brand from India," Salma says. "You put [this] on, and it feels like an oil, but then there's no oil anymore! You are just dry and soft, there's zero grease. And it just smells like it's good for you."
What does Salma wear on her face From Dusk Till Dawn? In the same interview, she shared that she's a fan of this night cream, also from Forest Essentials, calling the brand her "new discovery." One of the balm's main ingredients is fermented date fruit extract, which contains antioxidants that help improve skin's elasticity and reduce signs of aging.
It's also formulated with litchi (aka lychee) and sweet almond oil, both of which leave skin feeling glowing, hydrated and firm.
Another of Hayek's go-tos? These rejuvenating eye patches from Patchology, which she called "fantastic" when speaking with Good Housekeeping. Ingredients like caffeine and hydrolyzed collagen work together to minimize puffiness and wrinkles.
While the price might not be much for Hayek — she dubbed them "not expensive" — nearly $50 could be eyebrow-raising for some. It is worth keeping in mind, though, that the container comes with 30 pairs, so each treatment costs less than $2.
"I've been into EcoTools brushes," she told The New York Times in 2017. Not only does the brand offer a wide variety of skin and haircare tools, but they're also eco-friendly and 100% vegan. The handles in these are made from 100% renewable bamboo, while the heads are synthetic hair. It includes five brushes for foundation, concealer, blush, eye shadow and liner.
And Salma's not the only one who is a fan. Over 4,000 people have bought the set in the last month and more than 17,000 shoppers have given it a five-star rating.
This is the product Salma relies on to keep her pout hydrated and pillowy soft, telling the Times that she always keeps a Sisley lip balm in her purse.
If you're unfamiliar, Sisley is a luxury French beauty brand that makes "high-performance, plant-based" products, including skincare, makeup, haircare and fragrance products." The lip balm is a bestseller at high-end stores and consistently gets rave reviews.
