The Google Nest Hub is your all-around smart assistant.(Walmart)
If you want to get into the smart home space — or centralize control of your home — then you can't do much better than the Google Nest Hub. Assuming you use Google for most everything else, of course. Alexa devotees need not apply, but those who'd like an on-sale Echo alternative should pay attention: The Nest Hub (2nd Gen) is down to $60 (from $100) in an early Black Friday deal.
Available in four colors (although two are sold out at this moment), this little home hub can do it all and even track your sleep.
The Nest Hub doesn't go on sale as often as other smart home hubs. In fact, until the start of October, it was at nearly full price. This discount might not be the lowest it has ever gone, but it's still quite affordable.
The Google Nest Hub is a powerful device that has Google Assistant baked right in. If you ever have a question (no matter how out there or off the wall), just ask and Google will answer. In addition, you can play music through it on your favorite apps — yes, it supports Spotify — and you can use it to watch YouTube videos. It's a great beside companion too!
If you wish, the Google Nest Hub can even take advantage of radio waves to track your sleep through its Sleep Sensing feature. You don't have to wear a watch or anything; just point it toward the bed and place it within six feet and it will go to work when you lay down, nothing else required. You can also set it to wake you up gently with a Sunrise Alarm — in other words, a light that mimics the rising sun by gently growing brighter over about 10 minutes.
Of course, it also works as a central control hub for your smart home. You can monitor and control all of your Google Home devices from one central location. And for anyone worried about privacy, it has a physical mic switch that you can turn off so that you know it isn't listening unless you want it to.
