Amazon Prime Day 2022: Here's everything we know so far and the best early deals
And not a moment too soon, as Prime Day 2022 is next week: July 12th and 13th in more than 20 countries, returning to its customary month after two years of pandemic-related shifts. As always, the stellar sales event will include markdowns on thousands of products: tech, kitchen essentials, vacuums, apparel, beauty must-haves and so much more.
Learn these secret-shopper strategies for scoring incredible deals on Amazon — because in some cases, you can stack these discounts onto Prime Day deals! Ready? Here goes:
First things first: If you’re not yet a Prime member, sign up now. It’s the only way to take advantage of Prime Day deals. Prime plans are $14.99 per month (or $139 per year), and you get a free 30-day trial at signup. Prime member benefits include free two-day shipping and delivery, and same-day or even two-hour shipping for eligible items and locations. It also comes with access to Prime Video, Amazon Music (2 million songs, ad-free!), free two-day delivery on prescriptions from Amazon Pharmacy, free video games via Prime Gaming (formerly Twitch Prime), unlimited full-resolution storage with Amazon Photos and so much more. You’ll also get exclusive access to deals. Check out all the Amazon Prime 2022 perks here.
Amazon has a secret overstock outlet that’s home to massive deals on furniture, appliances, electronics and more goodies for the home, and you can even filter by bestsellers. We’ve routinely seen prices slashed by more than 80%.
Scour those overstock discounts because who knows? Amazon Outlet might even have sales that rival Prime Day’s. And sometimes Outlet picks and customer favorites overlap. We've spotted everything from air fryers to leggings in this section.
On-page coupons (look for them in green!) are the seller’s way of giving you an instant discount, and you might see them pop up on the pages of your favorite products or Prime Day deals, but you can also go directly to the Amazon Coupons landing page.
Here you can search for coupons by category and even clip and save coupons. The selection is amazing, too! It's not uncommon to find unreal deals on top-rated sheets and bed pillows.
The price-checking app Brickseek is a secret (savings) weapon for in-the-know bargain shoppers, who use it to hunt down the best deals across top retailers like Amazon. First, create an account (it takes less than a minute). Then click on "Sort & Filter." Choose Amazon.com in the “Retailer” field. Then filter by “Trending” or “Newest” for most up-to-date deals. You can even filter by category and brand.
Keep a close eye on Brickseek this July so you can make a beeline to the hottest Prime Day deals.
Who doesn’t love a bargain bin? Amazon Warehouse is packed to the gills with items that were used, pre-owned or open-box items. Most of the products are electronics like smartphones, laptops and tablets, but you’ll also find home goods like kitchen appliances. Amazon Warehouse products go through rigorous testing for physical appearance and functionality. Each item is then rated on its condition: “Like New”, “Very Good”, “Good” or “Acceptable”.
On a regular day, you can find discounts of up to 25% on Amazon Warehouse, but on Prime Day you can add additional savings, sometimes up to 20% more. A perfect example of that is the Echo Show 5 (2nd generation), an Amazon No. 1 bestseller. Echo Show tops the list of Prime Day deals each year, so keep an eye out. Another Prime Day favorite that often makes a Warehouse appearance? Keurig coffee makers.
There are certain items you constantly replenish, whether it’s your favorite detergent or a set of supplements you take regularly. If you score a great Prime Day deal on something you use all the time, don’t just buy it once — select Subscribe & Save to set up repeat shipments. The program saves you up to 15% on your most-loved products. You decide the delivery schedule and Amazon will ship the products automatically. You can cancel at any time.
You can also go straight to the Amazon Subscribe & Save page to see subscriptions for $10 and under, such as immune-boosting supplements and paper towels.
Lightning deals are fleeting Prime Day sales that are gone in a flash — some in as few as four hours and while supplies last, so you’ve got to act fast. It’s best to get ahead of the game by navigating to Today’s Deals, then scrolling down to Prime Early Access Deals, where Prime members can see and shop lightning deals up to 30 minutes before they’re released.
Of course, Prime Day made Lightning Deals famous, but they’re actually available year-round. Here’s the Lightning Deals landing page.
The Lightning Deals on electronics are always fun: we routinely see up to 50% off bestselling projectors, smart watches, earbuds and walking shoes.
Another great tool for tracking Amazon sales is CamelCamelCamel, a site (you can even install it as a browser extension) that keeps track of Amazon price drops — you can even set up real-time alerts for your favorite products. It also provides a price history, so you’ll know if that Prime Day deal is the product’s all-time lowest price.
Import your Amazon Wishlist to CamelCamelCamel, or search by category, popular products, top price drops, most recent price drops and more.
We’re in love with this FIFA 22 Standard Online Game Code for PCs, a video game that's a mind-boggling 84% off, or just $10 — down from $60.
We also found the cult-favorite The Pink Stuff - The Miracle All Purpose Cleaning Paste for just $6, down from its usual $10 thanks to CamelCamelCamel's popular products page, which also let us know this is a best-on-the-web price. The Pink Stuff sometimes retails for as much as $14.
