Chest wrinkles — those deep, vertical lines that make your upper torso look like a hydrological map — don't get talked about nearly enough. But they're real, they're persistent and they're coming for us all. As a 52-year-old side sleeper, I know an extra wizened décolleté can be one of the biggest beauty frustrations for women — especially when warmer weather has us showing more skin. But never fear: You don't have to give up V-necks for life. The best chest wrinkle patches can help smooth things out — basically overnight. Really!
Wrinkles are primarily caused by two main issues: damaged or thinning skin (due to environmental factors like sun exposure and the natural loss of collagen as we age) and repetitive movement. Like our necks, the skin on our chests tends to be drier, thinner and more delicate than the skin on our faces, making it especially susceptible to wrinkling. Add in hours of repetitive creasing from side sleeping and you've got yourself an upper bosom that resembles a railway track. "Side and stomach sleeping are the most damaging positions for the skin," says Dr. Svetlana Danovich, a triple board-certified cosmetic surgeon and founder of New York's SD Medical Arts. "These positions apply consistent pressure and friction to one side of the chest, contributing to fine lines and vertical chest wrinkles. The repeated force weakens collagen and elastin, accelerating the loss of firmness and elasticity, especially in delicate areas."
Danovich recommends a variety of in-office procedures to treat chest wrinkles, including red-light therapy and non-ablative lasers, but one affordable treatment you can try at home is to apply a quality, medical-grade silicone wrinkle patch to hydrate the area and avoid deepening any existing lines. "Silicone patches prevent vertical lines on the décolleté by keeping the skin smooth overnight," Danovich says. They can also boost blood flow to the area, stimulate collagen production and lock in moisture so your skin appears visibly hydrated.
All of this sounded like just the chest-wrinkle fix I was looking for — I consulted with experts, online skin-care forums and scrolled through hundreds of reviews before picking up and testing a dozen silicone chest patches. Here is the best one I tried.

These medical-grade silicone patches were first launched in 2014 and, despite (or maybe because of?) the hokey name quickly became an international skin-care sensation — they were even featured on Australian Shark Tank! The hype is, frankly, no surprise: These suckers work. The thick, sturdy design and heavy-duty adhesive smooths and pulls your skin taut, preventing future creasing, while the medical-grade silicone increases blood flow and locks in moisture while you sleep. The overall effect disappears (or significantly softens) most existing lines. After a week of wearing these silky patches to bed, I no longer have visible lines on my chest — in fact, most were visibly erased after just one night of wear. The patches are comfortable on your skin, non-irritating and stay put through several nights' use — the package says "up to 20" wears, though, to be fair, mine began sticking less well around night 15.
I test hundreds of skin care products a year and most are wildly overrated, if not downright bunk. But the Wrinkles Schminkles chest patch is that rare product that's as scarce as hen's teeth: it does what it says it will.
This is in part due to the area it covers: The reason most wrinkle patches (like Frownies) only freeze wrinkles for a few minutes is because you start moving your face as soon as you take them off — reintroducing the lines. But because chest wrinkling mainly only occurs at night through side sleeping, the effect of these patches truly lasts.
I tested 13 silicone patches in all — many from little-known Amazon brands. While a few came close to Wrinkle Schminkles, each had a downside, and none performed quite as well. For example, I found Blumbody's popular version to be too thick, too stiff and too irritating on my skin — it just wasn't comfortable to wear. Sio's "Chestlift" was oddly-shaped, thin, flimsy and fell off in the middle of the night. Silc Skin's Decollette Pad came closest to Wrinkles Schminkles, but ultimately did not pull my skin taut enough nor hydrate it enough to achieve the same stellar result.
I initially tested each of the first batch of patch contenders overnight — if they fell off, failed to pull the skin taut, were itchy or otherwise irritating or yielded little visible result by morning, I eliminated them. Ultimately, through this testing process, I narrowed the field to just two: Wrinkles Schminkles Chest Wrinkle Patch and Silc Skin's Decollette Pad, which I wore for a week each. Ultimately, Wrinkles Schminkles version yielded smoother, softer and more dewy-looking skin.
Patch weight: Your chest wrinkle patch should feel substantial and be durable.
Quality of ingredients: Chest wrinkle patches work best when they're made from pure, medical-grade silicone, including silicone adhesive.
Adhesion strength: Your patch should stay stuck to your chest overnight and remain sticky enough to withstand several wears.
Skin comfort: Chest wrinkle patches should be unobtrusive enough that they're comfortable to sleep in and made of a material that won't clog your pores, make your skin itch or feel hot.
Results: With consistent use, the appearance of your skin will improve over time; with a quality product, you should see results after just one night of wear.
Chest wrinkle patches work by pulling skin taut to prevent mobility in the area and keep you from creasing your skin as you sleep. They are often made with medical-grade silicone, which is used by doctors to promote scar healing and is thought to boost circulation, increase hydration and promote collagen growth.
The benefits of chest wrinkle patches depend on preventing future compression and creasing — they will last as long as you are not introducing new wrinkling events.
Medical-grade silicone is best for treating chest wrinkles as it helps lock in moisture and keeps the skin hydrated. However, if you're sensitive to silicone and still want to help prevent wrinkles while you sleep, it's worth trying a rubber- and latex-free face tape like OK Tape, which will have a similar crease-minimizing effect.
Most experts I've spoken with recommend in-office dermatological treatments for more dramatic and longer-lasting eradication of chest wrinkles. But silicone patches, while less potent and powerful, are a dermatologist-approved at-home alternative.
Sleep on your back, whenever possible. When you're in the sun, protect your chest from UV damage with broad-spectrum sunscreen of SPF 40 or higher. Apply skin care actives like retinoids and vitamin C to boost collagen production and even out skin tone.
