Runners know a thing or two about comfortable footwear, which is why we listen when they rally behind a shoe. Their latest much-loved sneakers? The Oofos Oomg low mesh sneakers have athletes in a tizzy. Even couch potatoes are fans.
While these Oofos kicks might look like any other pair of sneakers, they're anything but. For starters, it's because they're not sneakers at all — rather, they're a recovery shoe that's designed to help ease aches and pains, especially after a long day.
The Oofos Oomgs have a four-way stretch that hugs your foot and keeps it in place. A stretchy strap across the front of the shoe adds support without constricting your foot. They're especially great for spring and summer — hello, breathable mesh.
The true magic of the shoe, however, is in the sole. The footbed is made of Oofoam cushioning, which helps absorb impact while still cradling the arch. Plus, the traction pattern on the outsole helps prevent slips and trips. No wonder these lightweight shoes earned the approval of the American Podiatric Medical Association (though to be fair, all Oofos shoes earned the same accolade).
"I have suffered from plantar fasciitis for over four years and I have purchased a few pairs of shoes hoping they will bring me some sort of relief, but unfortunately the pain continued," shared one Zappos shopper. "Purchasing these Oofos was my very last chance since I didn't want to continue to waste my money. These shoes have been nothing but amazing to my sore, achy feet. These are my 'magical shoes.'"
Another added: "I’ve been suffering from plantar fasciitis in both feet for months...these shoes have been an absolute BLESSING! They take all of the pressure off of my heels and I’m virtually pain-free all day! The style is good enough to keep me in work uniform code at the office, and being a stretchy mesh they are cool in the summer heat. I may buy a second pair because they are amazing!"
"Love love love this shoe," a third chimed in. "I have too many orthopedic issues to list for my poor old feet but these shoes are just the fix. They have less arch support than the slides, but it is still adequate for my fallen arches. They are just ugly enough to be cute - and we aren't 18 anymore if we need these lovelies anyway!"
