One reason why thousands of shoppers have posted glowing reviews of this product? You're looking at it.. (Amazon)(Amazon)
Picture this: it’s the end of a long day, you’re in bed scrolling, and your phone is on 5%. You reach down to plug it in, only to end up fumbling around in the dark, trying to figure out which way is up on your USB cable. Frustrating, right? And with daylight saving time about to end, it will only get darker earlier, so this hassle won’t be going away anytime soon. Luckily, there’s an easy fix for all of this — a clever outlet extender with a built-in night light, now on sale for just $10
Night lights: They're not just for scaredy-cat kids anymore.
This outlet extender is already marked down 40%, but the real benefit is that it gives you so much more usable space than a standard wall outlet. It's also cheaper and more compact than most power strips. Add to that the smart nightlight, and you've got a gadget that's worth it at full price, let alone at less than $10.
Think about where you plug in your most-used devices. Behind a TV? Under a desk? Below a nightstand? Not exactly the most well-lighted places. And how big are the plugs on those devices? If they're markedly wider than a single outlet (looking at you, Google smart devices and Apple laptops), then you need an extender like this to make sure all your outlets are accessible.
With four built-in USB chargers (including a faster charging USB-C for newer gizmos) you never have to spend another minute finding an adapter. Just grab a cable, plug it in and you're good to go whether you're juicing up your phone, headphones or smartwatch.
Worried about the light keeping you up at night? Don't While the nightlight does turn on and off automatically, thanks to its built-in sensor, you can easily turn it off and on manually as well with a touch sensor built-in to the top of the device.
And oh yeah: In addition to the aforementioned talents, it's a surge protector too — that means your devices will be protected from unexpected changes in power.
Over 6,500 shoppers have lit up Amazon with five-star reviews. And the customers keep coming: More than 8,000 of these extenders have been snapped up in the past month.
A lot of reviewers praised its decluttering power. "I keep this in the kitchen, and we use it for pretty much everything," said one five-star reviewer. "It’s reasonably fast charging and the outlets are spaced out enough that big plugs fit. It also manages to squeeze in a lot of outlets in such a decently sized unit."
"I have one area of my countertop that I designated the charging station. This plug allows me to charge so many things at once in just one outlet. I love that it has a variety of plugs," praised another customer.
"It is a good idea to remove the outlet plate before plugging in your new cordless surge protector," advised this user. "This will give you the opportunity to use the screw in the center of the surge protector, which will secure it to the wall, keep it from falling out of the outlet due to the heaviness that can occur with the weight of several plugs in the surge protector."
Some reviewers were less than beaming about the night light function. "You have to tap on the night light for it to turn on/off automatically," said one of them. "I have accidentally tapped off the nightlight because of where the power button is (at the top — lightbulb symbol), so I wish it was in a different spot."
Another reviewer wished it were brighter, saying it "works as advertised, just don't buy it expecting much from the night light," before adding, "It only allows you to see to plug something in. [It] won't help you see the light switch or to walk down a hallway."
