It's easy to see why this universally flattering beauty is an Anthropologie bestseller! (Anthropologie)(Anthropologie)
Few dresses are as recognizable as Anthropologie's Somerset Dress. While the brand has multiple versions of it — some with shorter hems, different fabrics, various prints, etc. — the design is one of its most popular. People love it for good reason too. It's comfortable, can be worn almost anywhere, and it's flattering on almost everyone. The thing is, it's pretty pricey, usually costing $150 or more! That's why I'm pretty pumped that Anthropologie marked its Somerset Maxi Dress a rare 30% off in a bunch of styles. That said, you only have one day left to grab this deal — the price goes back up tomorrow.
The Somerset Maxi Dress rarely goes on sale. When it does, most sizes are sold out, or it's marked down in limited colors. But Anthropologie's summer sale is currently offering up to 30% off thousands of warm-weather styles — including this uber-popular frock — through Friday, July 11. The dress is down to $118 in nine colors and patterns on the main product's page. For just a few dollars more, you can find other styles, like this Blue Green Floral Stripe and this textured Tan Ivory version.
Shoppers (and Yahoo editors) love this dress for its flowy skirt, waist-accentuating fit and versatility. You can wear it with flip-flops during the day and heels at night. The fabrics and patterns the dress comes in are colorful and unique — you'll definitely stand out among a sea of black maxi dresses and tan linen pants this season.
Additionally, this dress is super comfortable. It has elastic at the waist, and the cotton fabric makes it pretty breathable. There's a hidden clasp at the V-neckline to keep it shut. It comes in petite, regular and tall lengths, so you can find the perfect fit for you. And, as almost any woman can tell you, no cult-favorite dress would be, well, a cult favorite with pockets!
There is a list of things that make a summer dress great: Is it flattering? Is the fabric breathable? Can you wear it for multiple occasions? Is it stylish? Does it have pockets?? The Somerset Maxi Dress checks all of the boxes!
This dress has over 3,300 reviews on Anthropologie's website, which collectively give it an average rating of 4.6 out of 5 stars. Many women say it's their favorite dress and admit to owning multiples!
"I own this dress in so many colors and fabrics. It is so flattering and comfortable," said one shopper.
"I really love this dress," explained another. "The material is just right, a little light so it’s not too hot, but thick enough to feel like good quality. The waist is nicely pulled in to give you a lovely silhouette. I am short (5’1”), so I ordered the petite and it is long, but still nice. I can see this being great for any occasion."
"This dress is outstanding; the fabric and style are perfection," confirmed a happy customer. "Such a flattering and well-constructed dress. The sleeves are perfect and I love the fullness of the skirt without being overwhelming. Definitely gets compliments!"
This succinct reviewer put it best: "Everyone should have at least one Somerset dress in their closet. I love the material and cut of the dress — it's flattering on good and bad days!"
More modest buyers have issues with the Somerset's coverage.
"I love this dress, but my only criticism is the weird placement of the button on the bust," said a customer. "Basically, you need to add a second one higher up so your boobs aren’t on display."
"I love this dress! It has a flattering fit," said another, adding, "I did wear a tank top under it because of the low V-neckline. It will be a favorite through the summer and into fall."
