Our favorite vegan meal delivery service is Purple Carrot, hands-down. (Yahoo)
Want a simple way to boost your health? Eat more plants. Research shows that a plant-forward diet can add years to your life — and the benefits are especially strong for people with heart disease or diabetes. Even if you're not fully vegan, cutting back on meat can make a meaningful difference. The hard part? Figuring out what to cook and how to use unfamiliar ingredients. That’s where the best vegan meal delivery services come in. With meal kits and ready-to-heat meals delivered to your door, these services make plant-based eating easier, tastier and more convenient than ever.
"Following a vegan diet can be challenging for some," says dietitian Gabriella Nowicki, who adds that many people who follow a vegan lifestyle can fall into the trap of relying on heavily processed foods out of convenience. "For those uncertain about committing to a vegan lifestyle, trying a meal service first can be a great way to start," she adds. Using a vegan meal delivery service is also a great way to explore new ingredients, flavor combinations and cuisines. And since they're designed with health in mind, the meals are more likely to include adequate amounts of protein, healthy fats, fiber, vitamins and minerals.
The best vegan meal delivery services bring a variety of nutritious, flavorful meals right to your doorstep that you prepare from fresh ingredients or simply pop in the microwave or oven. Best of all, you'll experience flavors and cooking methods that broaden your palate and open your mind to a new way of eating. The biggest challenge is finding a service that provides enough variety.
As a multi-certified personal trainer and nutritionist, I was more than happy to assist Yahoo editors in finding the best vegan meal delivery services. We started by reviewing top meal delivery companies — focusing on those that are fully vegan, offer dedicated vegan menus or provide enough plant-based options each week to be worth considering. After narrowing down the field, we put the finalists to the test, evaluating each service based on ingredient quality, weekly variety, flavor combinations, ease of preparation, available add-ons, sustainability practices, packaging and, most importantly, taste and texture. Keep reading to see which services we deemed the best vegan meal subscription services in 2025.

Purple Carrot is our unanimous choice for the best overall vegan meal kit because it offers an outstanding level of quality, flavor combinations, menu options and convenience that makes eating balanced meals much easier.
While it's absolutely possible to get enough protein on a vegan diet, doing so isn't always the easiest. That's why registered dietitian Rebecca Blake of Fay Nutrition particularly appreciates the company's focus on well-rounded vegan meals. "Purple Carrot does a truly excellent job of creating thoughtful meals that incorporate plenty of beans, legumes, soy-based products (tofu), and nuts to meet protein needs," she says.
Inside each box, you'll find fresh plant-based foods to create vegan meals that are nutritious and incredibly delicious. The diverse menu and high-quality ingredients are impressive enough to satisfy even the biggest carnivore.
Our tester praised Purple Carrot's meals for convenience, flavor and freshness, saying they all won over her family. She was especially impressed by the creamy dairy-free dressings and sauces. Everything was so tasty that she got her family of carnivores and vegetarians to regularly enjoy two vegan meals a week, which she called an "epic win." The company's eco-friendly approach to packaging is another commendable aspect, with recyclable shipping and packing materials used wherever possible.
How it works
Purple Carrot’s signup process is simple and hassle-free: Just choose how many servings per meal and meals per week you want, create an account, enter your payment details and start customizing your box.
Picking your meals is just as easy and stress-free. You can filter items by dietary need, meal (breakfast, lunch or dinner) or type — Meal Kits, Ready to Eat or Grocery. The Grocery section, aka the "Plantry," is another standout feature of Purple Carrot. Here, you can find a wide selection of fully vegan items, like cold brew coffees, fresh juices, instant lentils, homestyle chili, plant-based crab cakes, juice shots, chocolates, nuts, crackers and vegan cheeses.
Pricing varies depending on which plan you choose, starting at $11 and going up to $13 per serving for meal kits and $13 for single-serving prepared meals.
Type: Frozen prepared meals | Weekly vegan options: 30+ | Dedicated vegan menu: Yes | Servings: 1 (most items), 4 (family meals) | Shipping: Free for orders of 12 or 18 items
Mosaic Foods is one of the most affordable options, with single-serve entrées starting at $7 per serving and an impressive $5 per serving for family meals. It's also a great option for anyone with a busy schedule or those who aren't particularly fond of cooking, thanks to its broad selection of heat-and-eat vegan, vegetarian and plant-based meals. The service also caters to various dietary needs, such as wheat-free, nut-free, paleo, gluten-free or low-calorie, which truly sets it apart in the market.
Each week, Mosaic Foods offers more than 30 menu options, ranging from smoothies, pizzas and veggie bowls to family-size meals. Meals are clearly labeled with nutritional information and are free of preservatives and artificial ingredients. Most single-serve meals can be heated in the microwave in under five minutes, while the family meals are oven-ready and require at least an hour in the oven.
During testing, we were impressed by how flavorful — and filling — the family meals were. The fact that they contain at least four types of vegetables was also a nice bonus. The single-serving meals were more hit and miss. While most were flavorful, they didn't always taste like how you'd expect. For example, BBQ Mac & Cheese was oddly sweet and not as smoky as we'd hoped. The pizzas were among our favorites, with the Spinach Artichoke Pizza topping our list for its rich and satisfying flavor.
How it works
Because Mosaic has more limited availability than some others on our list, the first step is to make sure the company delivers to your area. If it does, you'll then be prompted to select your box size, enter payment info and start adding items to your order.
Mosaic Foods meals cost between $7 per serving for oat bowls and $12 per serving for veggie bowls. You can also get family meals that serve four for $20. If you buy a box of 12 or 18 meals, shipping is free (normally $10 or $20, depending on location). A box of 18 meals will also give you a $10 discount.
Meals come fully prepared and flash-frozen, delivered in a well-packed, insulated box on a day that suits your needs — once per week, every two weeks or monthly. The flash-freezing process helps keep things fresh while allowing you to stash meals in the freezer for at least three months, so you'll always have a convenient meal option available. Packaging is either curbside recyclable or made from post-consumer recycled fiber.

Type: Meal kits and prepared meals | Weekly vegan options: 2,000+ recipes to choose from | Dedicated vegan menu: No, but you can filter by vegan offerings | Servings: 2 or 4 | Shipping: Free for orders $70+; $6.99 for smaller orders
Hungryroot offers one of the most customizable meal delivery experiences, thanks to its large library of recipes and extensive grocery selection. Each week, you'll receive a mix of groceries and recipe-specific ingredients, making it particularly helpful for those with busy schedules — imagine not having to make a grocery store run mid-way through the week!
The service has an extensive database of more than 2,000 vegan-friendly recipes, but don't worry: You won't have to make selections each week on your own. The company has a unique algorithm that provides you with a list of meal options that suit your dietary and taste preferences.
Our tester thought Hungryroot's meals were tasty and offered excellent variety. However, some meals were more successful than others, with convenience sometimes taking priority over taste. However, the convenience and variety could prove incredibly beneficial to those new to vegan meals.
How it works
Unlike many traditional meal kit delivery services, Hungryroot doesn't have set meal plans to choose from. Instead, you'll start by completing a comprehensive quiz that asks about your food preferences, lifestyle, available kitchen equipment, desired meals you'd like to receive ingredients for and more.
Using this data — along with how much you want to spend per week — the service generates a list of suggested groceries and recipes. You can choose to keep the curated picks or swap them out. Each food is assigned a credit value and can be replaced with an item of equal or lesser value.
Plans start at $65, with the cost per serving ranging from $10 to $8.49 depending on the number of servings you receive each week. Shipping is free for orders over $70.
All outer packaging materials are recyclable, including the Enviro Ice cold packs that keep perishable food fresh during shipping. The individual ingredients and grocery items also come in recyclable packaging.

Type: Prepared meals | Weekly vegan options: 35+ | Dedicated vegan menu: No, but offers a vegan filter | Servings: 1 | Shipping: $9.99
Let's be honest: Prepared meals aren't always the tastiest. Too often, heat-and-eat meals feature sad, soggy vegetables and underseasoned proteins. Luckily, CookUnity is an exception. Featuring fresh meals designed by professional chefs — including a few celebrities — CookUnity's meals are packed with flavor and will have your tastebuds convinced you ordered take-out instead. Just be aware that some entrées are high in calories, saturated fat and sodium, so you'll want to pay close attention to nutrition stats before selecting your meals.
While it doesn't offer a vegan meal plan, CookUnity's vegan filter makes it easy to narrow down your options. We were impressed by the variety of vegan-friendly meal options and didn't have any trouble selecting a few to fill our box with.
Also noteworthy is the company's commitment to sustainability. In addition to eco-friendly packaging, CookUnity donates excess food to help cut down on food waste.

Green Chef is one of the only (if not the only) meal delivery service that's accredited by the California Certified Organic Farmers agency. It's also certified by the U.S. Department of Agriculture as an organic company, ensuring that, at the very least, all the produce in your meal kit is organic unless stated otherwise.
Each week, customers can choose from over 40 menu options across eight different dietary programs. The Plant-Based plan includes both vegan and vegetarian-friendly recipes, which are clearly labeled to help you identify vegan options. During our trial, we typically saw around five vegan-friendly dishes per week, though this can vary.
While you likely won’t be ordering meat — unless you're not strictly vegan or vegetarian — it’s worth noting that Green Chef sources its meat exclusively from farms that meet high animal welfare standards.
How it works
Green Chef’s sign-up process is quick and straightforward. You’ll start by selecting your preferred plan, the number of servings and how many meals you’d like each week. After entering your payment information, you’ll be taken to your weekly menu. The service automatically selects meals based on your chosen plan, but you can swap them out and mix and match from any of the available recipes that week.

Type: Meal kits | Weekly vegan options: 4+ | Dedicated vegan menu: No, but it does offer a vegetarian meal plan, which can help narrow down the menu options | Servings: 2 or 4 | Shipping: $11.99
Marley Spoon offers high-quality meals that are flavorful and nutritious but, most importantly, diverse, so families with different tastes don't have to stress over trying to please everyone's palates. "A meal delivery service can be a wonderful backup option when times get stressful or life gets too busy," says Nowicki. This service meets a range of dietary needs and styles, such as kid-friendly, ready in under 30 minutes and one-pot meals, making it an excellent choice for families with diverse tastes.
One of the key features of Marley Spoon is its unique, elevated recipes sourced from Martha Stewart's top-notch culinary team. These are not your average vegan meals — they're more like gourmet dishes that bring a sense of adventure to the dinner table. That said, our tester noted that the complexity of some recipes might be a drawback for beginner chefs and may be better suited for those with a bit more experience in the kitchen. If you're new to cooking or prefer more uncomplicated recipes, make sure you understand what is required for meal preparation before selecting the meal for your family.
Marley Spoon truly excels in the flavor department. The meals are tasty and satisfying, with ideal portion sizes. The biggest drawback? The limited number of vegan-friendly options. This might not be a dealbreaker if you're just looking to add more plant-based meals to your routine or aren’t too particular. But for those following a strict vegan lifestyle, the lack of variety could be a significant downside.
How it works
Getting started with Marley Spoon is similar to other meal kit delivery services: Select your meal preferences, number of servings and how many meals you want each week. From there, just choose your preferred delivery day, enter your payment information and pick your meals.
Pricing is competitive, ranging from $9 to $13 per serving — three meals per week for four people cost $132, including the $11.99 shipping fee.
Marley Spoon's packaging is mostly recyclable, with clear recycling instructions on its website, making it easy to dispose of packaging in an environmentally friendly way.
For more information, read our full review of Marley Spoon.
Cost: When comparing meal delivery services, make sure to look at the price per serving and factor in shipping costs. Prices typically range from $7 to $13 per serving, so if the meal comes with two servings, the price becomes $14 to $26. Also, many services offer add-on grocery items that range in price, which is an additional cost to consider. All of the services mentioned above offer generous introductory discounts for new customers, making it easy — and more affordable — to try a few and see which one suits you best.
Ease of use: Vegan meal kits should arrive with clear cooking instructions on a delivery schedule that works for you. Some services offer heat-and-eat prepared meals that are ready in under five minutes, while others provide ingredients with easy-to-follow recipes you'll prepare from start to finish — usually in under 30 minutes. "If you love to cook but hate the mental load of coming up with balanced meal ideas, then a meal kit is perfect for you, but if you feel burnt out or are too busy to cook, then a premade meal service is great," says Nowicki. Some services include whole produce and proteins that require more prep than others that provide pre-diced and pre-portioned ingredients.
Menu choices: Ensure that the service you choose has a wide variety of vegan recipes that align with your taste buds and ingredient preferences. Even though a service may say there are vegan meals, we found a few that really offered only two or three truly vegan meals a week.
Taste: These services aren't cheap, so it's important that you actually like how the meals taste. While the flavor of the meals is a personal experience, reading reviews or trying a few different services to find one that you really enjoy will be your best bet.
Eco-friendly packaging: The packaging choices of vegan meal delivery services should prioritize environmental impact and reduce their carbon footprint as much as possible. Look for services that provide clear instructions on recycling packaging or composting.
To decide which services were worthy of being called "the best," Yahoo editors and I tested many different options with a focus on plant-based eating. We paid particular attention to how many clearly labeled vegan options were offered each week, as well as the sustainability practices of each service — including eco-friendly packaging and responsibly sourced ingredients. We evaluated cost, menu variety, ingredient quality and freshness, ease of preparation and, of course, taste.
Blue Apron: Our pick for the best healthy meal delivery service, Blue Apron is one of the OG meal-kit services, and it continues to deliver flavorful meals with high-quality ingredients. While some of its vegetarian meals can be adapted to fit a vegan lifestyle, it doesn't consistently offer dedicated vegan options.
HelloFresh: Similar to Green Chef, HelloFresh lumps its vegan and vegetarian meals into one meal plan. While it helps narrow down your recipe options, it adds a bit of time to double check you're selecting bona fide vegan options. While we preferred the ingredient quality offered by Green Chef, HelloFresh is a solid — and more affordable — alternative if eating organic isn't a high priority for you. It’s worth noting that HelloFresh has faced criticism in recent years for sourcing products from suppliers with questionable animal welfare practices. In response, the company states that it has taken meaningful steps to improve, committing to source only from partners that adhere to higher animal welfare standards.
Daily Harvest: Originally known for its visually appealing smoothies, Daily Harvest's fully plant-based menu has since expanded to include breakfast bowls, snack bites and savory meals, like grain bowls and pastas. The service prioritizes organic ingredients and each meal is designed to be quick and easy, with most options ready in less than five minutes. While we appreciated the nutritional quality of the meals, we didn't find them to be as filling or satisfying as others on our list. Also keep in mind that the menu doesn't rotate, so it may get too repetitive for some.
A well-planned vegan diet can be incredibly healthy and is associated with a reduced risk of chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer and premature death. A recent study found that vegans often live a healthier lifestyle with more physical exercise and tend to smoke less. That said, the study also highlighted one major concern with vegan diets, especially for those transitioning to a vegan diet: The potential for micro- and macronutrient deficits. Numerous studies found that vegan diets are more likely to be low in calcium and vitamin D. When following a vegan diet, it's crucial that you ensure your meals are well-balanced and include protein, fiber, healthy fats and plenty of vitamins and nutrients. A vegan multivitamin may also be helpful for some folks.
Vegan meal delivery services prepare and deliver plant-based meals to your doorstep. These services offer meals and food items suitable for people following a vegan diet, which excludes all animal products, including meat, dairy and honey, and any foods made with animal-sourced ingredients. Many services have meals designed by chefs and nutritionists to be balanced, nutritious and flavorful, so sticking to a vegan diet is easy and enjoyable.
The term "vegan" describes a lifestyle that excludes all products containing animal ingredients or byproducts, as well as anything associated with animal cruelty. While veganism is often understood as a dietary choice, it extends beyond food to include clothing, jewelry, cosmetics, cleaning products and more — avoiding any items derived from animals or tested on them.
In contrast, a plant-based diet focuses primarily on consuming foods derived from plants but does not necessarily eliminate animal products entirely. Individuals following a plant-based diet may occasionally include small amounts of animal-derived foods such as dairy, eggs, honey or even fish and meat.
When you subscribe to a vegan meal delivery service, you can expect to receive preportioned, ready-to-cook or precooked meals delivered to your home on your selected day. Meal delivery services allow you to choose from a selection of meals each week with different tastes and dietary needs in mind, along with the option to choose extras, such as snacks, breakfasts and lunches. The meals are typically accompanied by cooking instructions for prepared meals and recipe cards with detailed instructions for the meal kits. Some services also allow you to modify the frequency of deliveries, skip a week or cancel anytime.
The cost-effectiveness of vegan meal delivery services requires weighing several factors, including your usual grocery budget, average food waste, time and energy spent planning and shopping, dining practices and the specific service you choose. While the cost per meal might be higher than if you were to buy the ingredients and cook from scratch, these services can cut back on food waste and save you time on meal planning, grocery shopping and meal preparation. For some people, these conveniences can make vegan meal delivery services a cost-effective option, especially if you often find yourself ordering takeout during the busiest days of the week.
Most vegan meal delivery services allow you to cancel your subscription at any time, but check the specific cancellation policy of any service you're considering to be sure it will fit your needs. Some services may require you to cancel before a deadline to avoid a charge for the next delivery. It's always a good idea to read the company's terms and conditions before subscribing.
