Fabric: 81% polyester, 16% nylon, 3% spandex | Bra sizes: B to HH | Colors: 15 | Support features: Underwire, adjustable straps | Silhouette: T-shirt
Shoppers with large busts can't stop raving about this pretty option. Sleek and stylish, it smooths out lumps and bumps up to an HH cup. This full-coverage balcony bra has molded cups and adjustable straps that make it great for bigger chests, and Freya is a go-to brand for Elisabeth Dale, author of The Bra Zone and founder of the Breast Life. "Full-cup bras are super-comfy for that eight-hour everyday bra," Dale says. This one is also among our picks for best bras and best support bras.
One five-star Amazon reviewer wrote, "If you're slim in the rib cage, but have larger cups, then this bra is a must-try! I ordered my true size, 28F, and haven't worn anything else since. If you're on the fence, just go for it. Can be worn comfortably all day. The girls stay facing forward, high and proud, and stay put all day. There's no spillage."
Fabric: 84% nylon, 16% spandex | Bra sizes: D to H | Colors: 15 | Support features: 3D knitted fabric, rounded four-way stretch molded knit cups, double-layer power mesh on side wings | Silhouette: T-shirt
If you need extra support on your sides, check out this Montelle bra that has extra-wide straps. Owners say its material is light and breathable, so you'll feel like you're barely wearing a bra. Plus, it's supportive for all-day wear and creates a lovely round shape.
"This is the most comfortable underwire bra I have found," says one shopper. "The cups have the perfect light amount of padding for a natural look, but still a good shape. I love that the hardware is metal and not plastic, it makes the bra feel more elevated. The band does run a little bit big, I ordered my regular size and I have to wear it on the middle hook because the outside hook is a little too loose."
Fabric: 100% nylon | Bra sizes: C to L | Colors: 11 | Support features: Three-part unlined underwire cups | Silhouette: Full-coverage/T-shirt
Anyone with a larger bust knows the pain of choosing between a bra that looks good and one that will actually support them. This PrimaDonna option is both fashionable and functional, with feminine lace and ample support and coverage. Dale is a fan, saying the brand is "pricey but worth every cent." That's thanks to deep molded cups that provide excellent lift for large breasts, ample side support that smooths out any lumps, and pretty details that make the bra stand out from the crowd.
One five-star Amazon reviewer wrote, "As a large-breasted woman, this bra is marvelous. I've been buying them for years and still wear the old ones even though they are very worn-looking. This bra holds the girls where they need to be, and the underwires do not pinch or stab you. No muffin tops either. Just a great-fitting bra. Well worth the money."
Fabric: 80% polyamide, 20% spandex | Bra sizes: A to G | Colors: 4 | Support features: Exposed elastic, molded cups | Silhouette: Strapless
Dora Lau, founder of intimate apparel company Dora L International, loves this bra because "it has the softest fabric and no wires to dig and doesn't slip down." There's a cushioned hook-and-eye back closure with four rows to choose from, so you can tighten or loosen for a better fit. It's also lined with a super-soft material and has exposed spandex to help it stay put.
Hundreds of shoppers are fans of this supportive strapless bra. "The most comfortable strapless bra I have ever owned!" says one shopper. "I have bought many strapless options over the years and this is the first one that I don’t have to take off the minute I get in the door. Excellent product! I found true to size."
Fabric: 78% nylon, 22% spandex | Bra sizes: C to H | Colors: 21 | Support features: Underwire, four-way stretch fabric, two-ply cups | Silhouette: Full-coverage/T-shirt
If you're looking to downplay your cup size, this minimizer can reduce your bustline by up to 1.5 inches. Along with a built-in underwire, it boasts two nonpadded cups that comfortably cover and support your breasts.
"Depending on the bra style and if you need a larger cup size, you might look for side panels or a wide back band and straps. These details are more critical in bras for people with fuller busts," Dale says. This option checks those boxes, with wide side and back bands that are made from a four-way stretch material that smooths any bumps and bulges.
One happy customer reported: "Full coverage, minimizing and comfortable! Best bra I've found in a long time. I am very large-chested, and it is extremely difficult to find comfortable, affordable and nice bras!"
Fabric: 55% polyamide, 30% polyester, 10% cotton, 5% spandex | Bra sizes: C to K | Colors: 5 | Support features: Three-part cup, angled seams | Silhouette: Balconette with side support and lace overlay
The PrimaDonna Deauville is a "workhorse bra," Dale says — perfect for long, busy days. It's on the pricier end, but Dale says the three-part cup, which has an extra seam to support larger breasts, is extremely supportive and long-lasting. The elastic lining at the top of the cup is form-fitting, designed to eliminate the annoying gap between the breast and the cup, and the underwire is triple-wrapped for comfort.
"This is my third Deauville and as usual I’m thrilled that it fits true to size in the band!" raves one shopper.
Fabric: 82% nylon, 18% spandex | Bra sizes: C to J | Colors: 7 | Support features: Leotard back; seamed cups; thick, adjustable straps | Silhouette: Full-coverage
Lau is a fan of this cute retro-inspired bra because "it goes up to size J and is a great way to get both support and style." This full-coverage bra comfortably offers lift, shaping and support — everything you want from a bra. Its straps are fully adjustable, and it has a hook-and-eye closure at the back that makes it easier to find a secure fit. The mesh panels at the top of the cups add a hint of sex appeal too.
"I just bought two of the Retro Chic Full Figure Bras and I love them," says one shopper. "They pick 'the girls' up and there's no bulging from the top of the bra. These bras are very comfortable and lightweight as well!"
Fabric: 76% nylon, 24% spandex | Bra sizes: B to H | Colors: 5 | Support features: Memory foam cups and straps, double-layer back | Silhouette: Full-coverage/T-shirt
Over 19,000 reviewers have given the 24/7 Perfect Coverage Bra a perfect five-star rating. Comfortable memory-foam cups provide coverage and a slight lift with adjustable straps, while a double-layer back smooths you out. ThirdLove is also known for its inclusive size range.
"This bra is very comfortable," says one customer. "It doesn’t dig in anywhere. It’s not miserable by the end of the day! It gives just a little more coverage than the T-shirt bra, that has been my standard go to for years."
Fabric: 93% polyamide, 7% spandex | Bra sizes: D to J | Colors: 2 | Support features: Full cups, side support, stretchy lace | Silhouette: Full-coverage
Nowadays, having a full bust does not have to mean boring bras, says Kimmay Caldwell, undergarment educator at HurrayKimmay.com. "Panache is known for their small-band, full-bust bras, and this Allure style is stunning and supportive," she says. The full-cup, nonpadded lacy style gives a rounded and natural shape, while the power mesh at the back boosts ventilation and provides ample support.
"This bra is the most comfortable bra I own, I love it! The lace is soft but the fit is perfect, no need for stiff scratchy lace!" raves one customer.
Sizes: 30A to 40H | Materials: 84% polyamide, 16% spandex | Colors: 7 options
This push-up bra combines mesh-lined cups with vertical and darted seams for lift, a supportive underwire and adjustable straps that can be worn criss-cross. Scalloped lace along the band adds a feminine finish. “The bra lifts and separates really well, and I like how thick the lacey material is. It gives extra coverage, but it is still comfy and supportive at the same time,” said bra fit expert Kristin Polin, who recommended it as a top pick in our roundup of the best support bras.
Available in band sizes 30–40 and cup sizes A–H, it’s a hit across the board. One curvy shopper raved, “I love this new style from the Bare collection. I found the bra to be true to size and supportive. The cup style offers natural cleavage without any extra padding, and the lace is soft and sexy. Highly recommend!”
Fabric: 88% polyamide, 12% spandex | Bra sizes: D to K | Colors: 12 | Support features: Side sling, underwire, soft stretch | Silhouette: Full-coverage
This pretty lace bra is another one of Caldwell's top picks. "This is another small-band, full-bust company, and this style is amazing with its stretch cups that can accommodate slightly different sizes or shapes, which is so normal, and the balcony neckline is a beautiful open look," she says.
"Really fabulous everyday bra," says one shopper. "Very comfortable and supportive. I would recommend trying to get in to a store and getting properly fitted, as I did."
Fabric: 49% polyamide, 36% polyester, 15% spandex | Bra sizes: B to J | Colors: 9 | Support features: Encapsulated cups, high-impact support, padded straps | Silhouette: Sports bra
All-around support is crucial when you're working out, and this underwire bra with wide, cushioned straps claims to reduce bounce by 83%. It has encapsulated cups that support each breast individually to prevent the dreaded "uniboob" look that even the best sports bras can create. It can also transform into a racerback bra with the use of a J-hook, and it has smooth, flat seams to prevent chafing during workouts.
One reviewer writes: "I love this sports bra, and I wear it as my everyday bra. After having my child, I needed amazing support, and I found this bra. I'm a 30GG, and I hope Panache never stops making this sports bra."
Fabric: 82% nylon, 18% spandex | Bra sizes: A to K | Colors: 4 | Support features: Thick, adjustable straps; molded cups; underwire | Silhouette: Balconette
"This is a great everyday bra that offers support and a sexy lift," Lau says. The balconette shape gives your girls a boost, and the straps are fully adjustable to help you find your ideal fit. The supportive, molded cups have hidden underwire that's designed not to dig in to your chest.
Hundreds of shoppers agree. One satisfied customer writes: "This bra fits well and is true to size. This is the only bra I will buy."
Fabric: 82% nylon, 18% spandex | Bra sizes: B to K | Colors: 10 | Support features: Wide wing construction, molded cups, comfort band | Silhouette: Full-coverage
Lau recommends the Cacique Comfort Bliss wire-free bra "for the ultimate in comfort with very light pads that lift and shape with a covered comfort and padded straps." It also comes in eight different styles, including pretty pastels and fun florals that are more interesting than the typical nude shades that busty bras come in. With thick, adjustable straps, a wide underband, stretch-fit cups and side- and back-smoothing panels, this wireless bra is designed to be equal parts comfortable and supportive.
"Very comfortable with amazingly smooth fabric that provides great support!" says one shopper. "Had a bra fitting and the young lady did a great job on my size. Love both bras she found for me to try after specifying no wires and black. I bought both and will purchase another of the same as soon as I can."
Fabric: 82% nylon, 18% spandex | Bra sizes: D to JJ | Colors: 2 | Support features: Convertible straps, mesh, three-part cups | Silhouette: Plunge
Caldwell says pretty much all Elomi bras are great for large breast sizes, but she loves this one in particular because "it has seams for support, including side support, plus fully adjustable, convertible straps, an amazing size range and a plunge front. It's hard to find a more plunging front for full busts, but this center gore is lower and the bra keeps breast tissue in place." The straps can be converted into a racerback thanks to the J-hook, and there's an underwire for added lift and support.
One happy Nordstrom shopper writes: "I have bought this specific bra in multiple colors and I love it! It’s so hard to feel sexy when you’re a HH in bra sizes, but this bra gives me confidence and the support I need at the same time!"
There are a few key factors to consider before you shell out for your next bra, experts say.
As with any bra, finding your correct size is essential to staying comfortable and supported. "Bras are like shoes — the wrong size will feel awful," says Caldwell. Not up for a professional fitting? See below for more on how to measure your size at home.
In general, larger busts typically need roomier cups, so you might look for a "deep cup with lots of forward projection if you want to avoid a very wide look," Caldwell says. Lau adds, "The cup should also have a bit of stretch, but not too much, to offer the support, comfort and shape needed for larger sizes."
Every bust needs support, but especially larger ones. Caldwell suggests opting for bras with thick seams as they "not only shape the cup more forward, but they act like support beams on a bridge." Thicker bands are also necessary, as the band provides up to 90% of the bra's support. "The fuller the bust, the more work the band needs to do, so a wide, adjustable band, preferably made with some kind of power mesh or slightly firmer elastic, is a great idea," she adds.
When it comes to bras for bigger breasts, the wider the straps the better, experts say. "Wider straps provide increased comfort and support for those with fuller figures wearing larger cup sizes," Lau says. In particular, she recommended wide straps without stretch, saying they're more likely to give you the all-day lift and support you need.
Traditionally, anything over a D cup has been considered a large bust size. However, Caldwell says that bras range in size from AAA to S these days, so even D cups can feel on the smaller side. "My bra-fit students and I agree that 'full bust' is anything over a U.S. cup size H in modern bras. If that feels uncommon, that's because big-box stores still only stock bras up to a DDD (which is an F) and haven't caught up to proper fit, real sizes and inclusive brands." she says.
While visiting a pro is always an option, it's possible to get an accurate size at home, experts say. "First, you will need a tape measure (measuring unit should be inches) in order to take your rib and bust measurements," says Noemi Diaz-Justino, senior design director of lingerie brand True & Co. "Holding the tape measure parallel to the floor, wrap it snugly (not tight) around your rib cage. If the measurement is an odd number, add 5 inches. If the measurement is an even number, add 4 inches. Next, keeping the tape measure parallel to the floor, wrap the tape measure loosely around the fullest part of your bust. Now subtract the rib measurement (with the added inches) from the bust measurement. The difference will determine your cup size. The guide for cup sizes goes like this: 1 inch = A cup, 2 inches = B cup, 3 inches = C cup, 4 inches = D cup, 5 inches = DD, 6 inches = DDD."
You may think that underwires are a no-brainer for providing the support larger busts need, but that's not the case. "They’re totally optional, even for fuller busts," Caldwell says. "As long as the bra fits well, going wire-free can still provide the level of support and shape a full-busted person desires." Lau agrees, saying that modern bras have come a long way. "The benefits of today's technology make wireless bras perform just as effectively as with wires."
To figure out which bras for large breasts deserved a spot on our list, we talked to bra experts, fashion designers and our own team of shopping experts. We also asked which options were in their own lingerie drawers, because there's nothing like a recommendation from someone who has bought and loved a bra herself.
