Longtime fashion lovers know designer Tracy Reese well. Her famous fans include Kim Kardashian, Gabrielle Union and even Michelle Obama, so it’s no surprise that her colorful, printed dresses are perennial wardrobe must-haves.
While you can still shop Reese’s Plenty styles at Anthropologie, the designer has a new line called Hope for Flowers and it’s all about sustainability. With this brightly printed, stunningly beautiful collection, Reese is on a mission to responsibly create clothes, “which entails being more mindful of sourcing and fabric choices as well as ethical conditions for workers in the fashion supply chain.”
So just how is Reese embracing sustainability with Hope for Flowers? “My first goal has been to work with textiles that cause minimal harm to the environment and the people who produce them,” the designer writes on her website. And she is really putting this into practice. Reese’s Hope for Flowers garments use sustainable materials like organic cotton, organic linen and Cupro, which is sourced from sustainable forests.
To take her commitment a step further, Reese has also slowed down production with Hope For Flowers. Rather than producing a ton of items and potentially discarding what doesn’t sell, Reese is basing her inventory on need. Additionally, she is focusing on “styles that are more flexible and able to fit more sizes and body types.”
