Sweater up this season with one (or more!) of these super-chic, expensive-looking picks from JCPenney.(JCPenney)
While I love the summer sunshine, I can't deny the joy I get from slipping into a cozy, chunky sweater come fall. But, I'll admit, I'm running out of room in my closet, so I'm trying to be a bit pickier lately with my purchases. I'm looking for solid, basic knits I can wear again and again, and bonus points if they look more expensive than they are. I'm happy to report that I recently found a bunch of JCPenney sweaters that could totally pass for designer duds.
I'm even happier to share that the knits making my wishlist start at just $18, and none are over 60 bucks. But they're so stylish, everyone will think you spent a small fortune — only you and your wallet will know the truth. You can wear them to the office, out to dinner, to tailgate parties, for apple- and pumpkin-picking ... seriously, you'll get a lot of use out of these babies. Ready for sweater weather? Shop 10 timeless picks worth the wardrobe space, all found at JCPenney.
If you like an oversize sweater, you're in good company. This one is definitely going into our cart as a comfortable knit to wear with leggings, jeans and more. The flecked fabric in gray or beige gives it just the right amount of flair while still keeping it in closet-staple territory.
Want to look like a rich mom? Try a simple cable-knit sweater in any neutral color. This crew neck style is a machine-washable, soft cotton blend you can wear with jeans, trousers, on its own or layered over a collared button-down blouse. In other words, this is one versatile top. Choose from 18 shades.
"I love these sweaters! I have several colors. They wash really well. I hang them to dry to keep them nice. They are just the right weight, not bulky," said one JCPenney reviewer.

Cardigans aren't always casual. You can dress this one up with a faux-leather skirt, like the model, or wear it with jeans and heeled booties for a night out. The fitted, ribbed knit comes in mocha brown (a trending color!), as well as beige and green.
"Buttery-soft material and honestly, so so comfy," said a shopper. "This top is perfect for the office or for a lunch with friends in the fall. It is stretchy enough, but still a flattering fit with jeans or slacks. I will be wearing this often!"
Rebecca Minkoff, fashion designer and former cast member on Bravo's Real Housewives of New York, has just released an affordable clothing line at JCPenney. This sweater features the designer's signature edge with chrome buttons down one side. There's a coordinating knit skirt (sold separately) if you like a monochromatic look.
Here's a pick that's like two tops in one. It's a wrap-style sweater that comes with a matching, attached shell underneath. With its go-with-anything rich brown hue, this is another top that's versatile and easy to dress up or down.
"Pretty sweater," said one shopper. "Cozy-feeling material, washes and dries well, fits true to size."
This roll-neck style looks pretty similar to a popular J.Crew sweater, but it's a fraction of the price. Nab it in three neutral colors, including beige if you're going for that "old money" aesthetic in your wardrobe. Wear it to the office, out to lunch, to run errands and more. It's comfy, cozy and cute.
Here's another trusty basic you'll want for your closet this fall and winter: a simple black turtleneck. You can wear this sweater almost anywhere, and when the temps really drop, you can wear it under heavier layers and stay super toasty. Maybe something like a fashion-forward barn coat for an off-duty British royal vibe?
