Buying a gift card for someone is incredibly generous. Well, heads up: Just for Prime Day, Amazon is offering a $10 promo credit when you purchase an Amazon gift card for a minimum of $40. Just let that sink in for a moment: This is free money to spend at Amazon — all because you generously purchased a gift card for someone else.
But wait! What about yourself? You deserve a treat right about now too. Buy a gift card for yourself and enjoy an extra 10 bucks to spend on whatever you like.
Keep in mind that Amazon gift cards last for a year, so you could technically buy a gift card now for the holidays and check one very lucky person off your list early.
Here's how it works: Head to Amazon's gift card page, and choose whether you want a gift card mailed or emailed to your giftee, or if you'd rather print it out and give it to them. Then, select the card you want, enter the amount you want to spend and put it in your cart.
When you get to checkout, enter the promo code "GCPRIME2021" and purchase your gift card. (For Amazon Reload, tap the “Apply code to your account” button.)
You'll get a $10 promotional credit in your Amazon account two days after your purchase. It's really that easy!
Amazon will shoot you an email letting you know that your promotional credit has been added to your account, and that email will also give you instructions on how to redeem your credit.
There's only one $10 credit per Amazon.com Prime account, so you'll get the credit whether you buy a gift card worth $40, $80, $100 or more.
The deal lasts from now through 11:59 p.m. PT on Tuesday. After that, you're back to purchasing gift cards for people with zero extra financial benefit to you. If you're planning on giving an Amazon gift card any time between now and this time next year, you won't want to miss out on this deal!
