When it comes to walking and hiking I've set aside my boots long ago for all but those snowiest of journeys (or if I need a crampon, but that's a whole other discussion), instead opting for trail runners like these. They're much lighter than traditional boots, which means you move faster along the trail and arrive back to your car or house less fatigued at the end of the day.
